Did you know a more recent tapestry was completed on the island of Alderney with Royal stitches and approval. I've thought of taking that up, too. What to do first... :)Debra Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03256313302199653185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-15231912581003428782013-10-29T05:45:34.585-07:002013-10-29T05:45:34.585-07:00Debra - do not delay - find a project to your liki...Debra - do not delay - find a project to your liking now and begin! Last year just after Christmas I began a huge needlepoint floor pillow, 30" square. I based the design on an old Persian rug of ours, and worked it in random long stitch. Even though it was 900 square inches I completed it in just over three months, just by spending random moments on it. I not only have a big beautiful pillow to sit in front of the fire on, but working it helped me through a few rough months...There is NOTHING like hand-work to give one a sense of calm, and quiet accomplishment, or to connect us with our dear ancestors, who always had something in hand.Octavia Randolphhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09280624466763859908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-67378643472505682272013-10-28T06:11:04.807-07:002013-10-28T06:11:04.807-07:00As would I! Rabelais wrote wonderfully wry commentaries on the tapestries of his day, and I learned as much from this post as from the great humorist. Keep 'em coming, Octavia. I am pleased to see the touch of Victorian sensitivity the women brought to the piece as it has passed into history and is another point of interest in our more straightforward time, and I thank Jan for sharing her pictures and knowledge with us.
