I find it hard to believe that the monks of Scone would hand over such a potent symbol to an oppressor. And if Wendy Wood was correct then the real Stone may reappear on day. Let's hope so!Marie Macphersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10906943465845474431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-87523972636797537622013-12-03T00:29:19.693-08:002013-12-03T00:29:19.693-08:00Fascinating story....as intriguing as the search f...Fascinating story....as intriguing as the search for The Holy Grail. Is the truth a guarded secret passed from one generation to another, fiercely protected over the centuries, or is the 'truth' totally hidden by myth and legend. The other 'Stone of Destiny' resides at Tara in Ireland, and there are inaugural stones which have footprints in them where the prospective ruler would stand. Strip away the obviously later Biblical stories and I wonder if you are looking at something that has come down from early prehistory, long before the 'celtic' period (I note the article contained a photo of a decorated funerary bowl inside the chamber of an Irish passage grave.) I am thinking of the Hag's Chair at Loughcrew, which is embedded in the side of the great equinox-aligned cairn, and is very throne-like. I also wonder if the axe and dagger carvings that festoon the huge, very finely wrought southern trilithon at Stonehenge may relate to some ancient chieftaincy rite in which you place your hand and your symbol of power on this important stone in the holy of holies which faced toward the Great Trilithon that framed the setting winter solstice sun.StoneLordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07338820506795034334noreply@blogger.com
