I'm looking forward to seeing what the dig up down by the river.<br />The museum displays in Exeter are fascinating for the diversity of small finds – all those tiny things that indicate the complexity of Rome.Alison Mortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12638794898163576730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-39483842738639010002017-02-24T00:02:34.953-08:002017-02-24T00:02:34.953-08:00Was belting down when I visited Caerleon, but I...Was belting down when I visited Caerleon, but I'd built in an extra day to the RNA Conference trip and I was determined to see everything. The amphitheatre is inspirational. Exeter was a lovely surprise and when I researched it after wards, it was even better!Alison Mortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12638794898163576730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-69614137688754180282017-02-23T19:50:36.959-08:002017-02-23T19:50:36.959-08:00This is a glorious post. As a sociologist (with a deep love of anthropology and archeology), I love cultures and civilizations of all types, both past and present (though I admit to long harboring a love for cultures of the past). I so want to walk in this site, touch the wall, sit for a bit in the barracks and think for a bit what those soldiers might have thought long ago. Could there thoughts have been so very different from any other soldier preparing for war? Or walking in the amphitheater, pretending to hear the shouts of the crowd...oh the fun in the that! *sigh* What a life you've lead. Thank you so much for sharing. I cannot thank you enough.Michelle Willmshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14852023636603608173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-48911153873756460302017-02-23T03:34:09.473-08:002017-02-23T03:34:09.473-08:00Really interesting post, Alison! And how wonderful to get some 'inside-info' at Caerleon, when out for a walk in the rain :)Anita Chapmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08643609708390860371noreply@blogger.com
