I live in Lewes, an historic town in Sussex near Brighton and one of our oldest streets, Keere Street, entertained the Prince Regent and his carriage and four. It's a cobbled way, very narrow and incredibly steep (Lewes is built on the side of the Downs). For a wager, he is supposed to have driven a carriage and four from top to bottom at speed and without stopping. Amazingly he survived and so did the horses.
