I loved the village and was stunned as I stood in the ruin of Wycollar Hall. It was amazing to stand on the steps that some of my ancestors used. I had a very relaxing day there, doing very little, yet absorbing the atmosphere :)Annie Whiteheadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11028691371545306450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-28802809256502383142015-09-30T00:40:12.540-07:002015-09-30T00:40:12.540-07:00Very interesting - I need to explore that part of ...Very interesting - I need to explore that part of England further.Stephanie Gau thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12975359802571004043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-25496407841527145002015-09-28T14:57:04.670-07:002015-09-28T14:57:04.670-07:00Thanks Paula - how fascinating to hear about your ...Thanks Paula - how fascinating to hear about your ancestors; it's lovely to hear about a tangible link to the past :)<br />Annie Whiteheadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11028691371545306450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-47276152262835198482015-09-27T16:05:05.798-07:002015-09-27T16:05:05.798-07:00My ancestors were handloom weavers in Wycollar in ...My ancestors were handloom weavers in Wycollar in the 18th century but moved to Trawden and Winewall in the first quarter of the 19th century, to find work in the cotton mills there. They stayed in the Colne area, and I remember many visits to Wycollar as a child when we were visiting my mother's aunts and uncles near there. Their name was Waddington, a very common name in that area! I'm not sure where else you could find such a lot encapsulated in such a small area.Annie Whiteheadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11028691371545306450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2456802468539868519.post-89932409450964260622015-09-27T06:27:15.723-07:002015-09-27T06:27:15.723-07:00Thanks for your comment, Linda.
